Fire has been symbolic of many many things throughout the ages.
Not only did it keep us warm and alive in icy cold winters , embracing fire as magic.
Closely related to the sun. Both of warmth and fire.. and life
But it can also cause death, so fire like any element has both its opposite meaning Like the Ying and Yang symbol

the alchemical symbol of fire is an upwardly pointing triangle
The triple flame of Arwen in celtic symbolism The flames on either side represent bot male and female elemental energy, the flame in the middle is the both interwined as one.

Fire can mean On a positive note:
Passion,
Sexuality
Creativety
Action
And every positive side we have a negative
Inaction
destructive
Bringer of chaos and destruction

Colours linked to fire are
Red,
Orange
and Yellow.
at the hottest point of a fire is Blue.


Fire represents Summer

It represents clarity
independance, health, and vision.. the Pheasant is associated to fire according to chinese astrology.

Leo
Sagittarius.

as in any element there are positive and negative attributes, we are all striving to develop a balance of both with us,
Our personal drive is reperesented by fire.
The Knights in all pip suits are represented by Fire. In medival tiems the Knight were the warriors and agressors fighting the wars, hence the reason fire is linked to them.

Strength for courage, action, and creativity, strength can also mean a new start, a clean cut of ties.As the Aboriginals of Australia do , they use fire to control the new vegetation, they burn off old infertile vegetations to promote new growth.

In the Druidcraft Cernnunos is represented as the devil, the druids and celts saw Cernunnos as a positive influence in their lives..Cernnunos teaching his followeres not to go down the track of the christian version of the Devil. Keeping your feet planted in the ground and see the real beauty in life and its natural world.

It is a Lily, Fleur meaning Flower , Lis meaning Lily
This is one of my favourite symbols.
I have this symbol around my home nearly every where, representing the Major french influence and blood from my fathers heritage.
I wont go into the heritage of my family, but i will try to go into the heritage of the Fleur-de-lis.

These days we associate The "Fleur-de-lis" with french monarchy. You find this symbol every where..
It is said that the three petals.. represnt the three classes of french people.
1, Those who worked 2, those who fought and 3 those who prayed.

What ever modern man has put meaning to this symbol it is unmistakably French. Or is it?

In Bosnia, they have 6 fluer de lis on their flag to represent their country.
it was the symbol of the house of Kotromanic a Ruling house in medieval Bosnia.
Linked to the house of Anjou. The house of Anjou a minor ruler in feudalism, and
in the 10th century, to be known as the Kingdom of France.

"The original House of Anjou was the dynasty established by the viscounts and counts of Angers at the beginning of the 10th century. It became extinct in the male line in 1060, but was inherited through a daughter by the House of Gâtinais, which came to rule both Anjou and Maine by the early 12th century. In Maritius Slaves were branded with the Fluer de lis.
Prior to 1710 the Dutch "Tried" to colonise Maritius, instead all they achieved to do was decimate the Dodo Bird and The giant Turtle population, and clear so much rain forest for ebony bark, and introduced pests to the island.
They treated the slaves appauling. and many escaped into the forests.
In 1715 the French took over calling it "Isle De France"
In 1833 , 23 years after the British took over the island Slavery was abolished.

The Fleur de lis has much history around the world , starting off from a beautiful Flower , its symbol meaning so much to many different people.

In my own history It is linked to a French Noble family fleeing France to England escaping the Guillotine , Napoleon Bonaparte also fled and went into exile on the isle of Elba. 1813
The French family, Settled in England, found a new life and started a new lineage. The house this Noble family came from also had a Fleur de lis on their crest. This history was unknown to me until 2 months ago. To me it explains my obsession with France, the Fluer de lis and the impressionist movement.
