Alkimos
Built in 1943 in just 10 months it was called the "George M Shiver" Built by the US as a Liberty ship,
It was a war time freighter , shipping cargo to the colder regions of Baltimore
The ship came into the hands of the Norweigens and renamed "Viggo Hansteen"
The ship was said to be cursed or Jinxed.
It had run aground numerous times and at one stage was the only ship still able to sail after a fleet was attacked in WW2
In 1953 it sailed under the Costa Rican flag and again renamed to the "Alkimos"
some stage it became property of Greece. But was never renamed.
in 1963 whilst sailing along the western Australia it ran aground several times after its short time on the seas Alkimos,
Finally resting 59 Kilometeres North up the coast of Perth Western Australia.
These days it us not only of interest to divers, But also Ghost Hunters
Paranormal happenings almost immediatly started to become common knowledge after it became an attraction for the general public to explore this ship.
Footsteps going up and down ladders,
Cooking smells coming from the kitchens
Tools disappearing only to return later.
and a Ghost Named Henry!
and according to the book by Jack wong Sue and Barry Sue
named "Ghosts of the Alkimos"
there was also a murder suicide onboard.
the book looks lik einteresting reading and i think if i ever came by it, I would definatley buy it out of curiosity.
